Cataract

CATARACT is a debilitating condition where the lens of the eye becomes cloudy and steadily becomes opaque,. Now, These cataract are often white but, they at time, become tinted yellow or brown. This can vary depending on the severity of the cataract.

  Symptoms, Diagnosis and Treatment
The CATARACT can be termed as ‘trace’, if only a bit of cloudiness is noticed in the lens. This can steadily progress to ‘moderate’, and when it becomes very pronounced the cataract is classified as immature, just like looking through a dusty window. As the ‘window’ gets dustier, it becomes even more difficult to see clear images. This is exactly the way CATARACT steadily blocks light from entering the eye, ultimately resulting in otherwise preventable blindness.

Common symptom
* Steady deterioration in vision
* Hazy, blurred or distorted appearance of objects
* Dramatic reductions in night vision or low light condition
* Difficulty in seeing in bright light or sunshine due to glare.
* Appearance of halos around bright lights at night.

Treatment
At MaxiVision Laser Eye Centre, our team of experienced ophthalmic surgeons offer you an advanced and effective way of restoring vision lost to cataracts: Phacoemulsification.

How does it work?
Phacoemulsification is the latest and most sophisticated method of removing a cataract; a sutureless surgery performed as an out-patient treatment with almost instantaneous restoration of normal vision.
First, the clouded cataracterous lens is extracted by fragmenting it into tiny pieces with the aid of ultra-sound energy. They are then aspirated out with a suction device and removed through a small, self-sealing incision. Patients can return to normal activities without any restrictions the day after the surgery.

Advantages of Phacoemulsification
Phacoemulsification has several advantages over other methods of removing cataracts, these are principally the fact that:
*It is painless and bloodless and requires no stitching.
*It takes a much shorter duration for surgery.
*Early rehabilitation and restoration of vision.
*There are few post-procedure restrictions
*There is absence of post-procedure astigmatism

OUR EQUIPMENT AND LENSES/ FACILITIES
We use only the latest and best in technology to ensure that all our patients receive the highest standard of care. All our extraocular surgery is done with single use disposable surgical instruments.

Our Cataract Ultrasonic machines are the latest dual pump machines which give the surgeon unsurpassed control during the procedure. The Bausch & Lomb Millennium Microsurgical System with its phacoburst technology reduces the total amount of ultrasonic energy delivered to the eye during phacoemulsification. These improvements lower the risk of thermal or physical injury to the cornea and incision site.

With this machine the latest methods are available here at MaxiVision, – including bimanual phacoemulsification, where the incision site is merely 1.4mm wide (standard is 4.1mm). Again, our phaco handpieces use the most advanced bimanual technology for new hyper “cool” techniques further reducing heat during the procedure.

We have access to all the intraocular lenses (IOL) available today, and considering this lens will remain in your eye for the rest of your life, we have a selection of only the finest at Maxivision, including:
Injectable lenses, and the world’s first aberration free IOL from Bausch & Lomb!

Multifocal lenses! See in the near and far, allowing up to 80% of patients after surgery, to do away with glasses altogether!
Aspherical, anti-Glare lenses with improved contrast perception – vision the way you used to be!
Blue Blocker IOLs to protect the Retina from harmful UV rays from the sun.
